i’ll meet earth soon

Watching AdventureTime, working on different things. I need to write a bunch of stories before the end of the month in order to qualify for paying markets. Did I mention that? I decided only to submit to paying places, for the most part. There are loads of calls for submission every month for themed issues of things, and I figure I’ll just throw as many stories at as many different markets as I can until I start making money.

Also, looking for a part time job, which is going not the best, though I do have an interview on Monday for an Admin spot on a writing website, which will pay. I figure if I can get just 40 hours a month out of that, I’ll be able to cover my expenses, and any freelance work will only add on top of that.

But, yeah, gonna work on some writing this weekend. Still owe J David Osborne a novel, which I really really really need to finish.

So it goes.

friday so shutup

autumnal wind through trees

driving alone

The haiku ran through my head as I drove down the streets that grow familiar the longer I live here. It’s quite nice, finding a new place to live, learning how to live there. It becomes a new home and it’s weird to drive a car here, owing to how often I’m busing.

Anyrate, just wanted to share a haiku, which is pretty much the only form of poetry I really write, though I’ve been reading a lot lately. Of poetry, I mean. My Black Ocean subscription arrived all at once, which is awesome, as I’ve had books to pour through. Also, Ocean Vuong┬áis maybe my new favorite poet. He’s utterly amazing, and reading him for the first time last week reminded me of when I discovered Rimbaud, though maybe that’s too high of praise.

But, yes, weekend begins and it should be a relaxing one. Chelsea and I are seeing Don Jon tonight, finally, and then tomorrow’s the Twin Cities Book Festival, which should be amazing, because how could it not be?

Oh, also, finally finding some freelancing jobs. Not so much yet, so I’ll likely still get a part time job, but it feels good to see the work paying off again.

Till next time.

things be brewing

First, I’ll start off with my interview with Lindsay Hunter at Monkeybicycle. It seems like those are the only updates I’ve been making lately. Hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of posting. Got some more exciting things to post here.

I wrote another poetry collection of tanka, ryuka, and haiku. 125 poems over three days to go with the poetry collection I wrote this spring which was about 120 poems. It’s weird for me to write poetry, and I think I’ll only ever write this kind of poetry, though I don’t know if I’ll ever take it that seriously. I mean, I take it seriously enough to write it all out, but I don’t know what to do with it now that it’s finished.

I’ll figure something out.

Been stalled super hard on the YA novella because of Time and stuff. Freelancing is going not so great as I can’t seem to find new jobs. If I don’t find something by the end of this week I’m going to start really looking for a part time job, just to make sure money continues to flow in and I don’t end up with a big mess on my hands.

What else? Chelsea’s birthday approaches, as does our 18 month anniversary. I have a surprise in mind, but she can’t know, so shut up your face. I need to finally write my nephews a book too, which I’ve owed them for almost two years! Being a bad uncle on that front.

Probably some other things too. I want to write a post about Breaking Bad now that it’s done, and I still need to write about the last two seasons of Lost, now that I’m done watching that weird show. Also, started watching a new show I want to talk about but that’s for later.

That’s all for now. Till next time, Starchild.
